Google Talk

Why did Camrivox support Google Talk™

Camrivox choose to support Google Talk™ because it is based on an open standard, XMPP, albeit different from SIP, the typical protocol used for VoIP communication today. Camrivox believe supporting both XMPP and SIP on a single device brings advantages to users by supporting both traditional telephony and effective presence and messaging.

Camrivox further believe that making use of the extensible nature of XMPP will allow new communication and collaboration applications to be brought to residential and SME users.

What can you do with embedded Google Talk™

Camrivox can embed this technology in any of its standalone VoIP products, Analog Telephony Adapters (ATA) and IP Phones allowing voice calls without a PC. Products could support Google Talk™ only or Google Talk™ and SIP concurrently, this allows interesting and exciting product possibilities.

With XMPP and SIP included in a single device, an incoming Google Talk™ call for instance could be diverted to a PSTN line or a cell phone using a SIP VoIP service provider, if the user is not available.
