Dynamics:

Overview

Below is a summary of the steps involved in the installation and setup process:

  1. Install the Camrivox Dynamics CTI software on the administrator's Windows PC.
  2. Setup the Camrivox Dynamics CTI software for the organisation on your Dynamics installation.
  3. Enable Web UI customisations for the organisation on your Dynamics installation.

Then for each CTI user:

Setup of the Camrivox Dynamics CTI package for the organisation on your Dynamics installation

The setup of the Camrivox Dynamics CTI package on your Dynamics installation is done once for the organisation by an administrator. The instructions are as follows:

    Apply web UI customisations.

  1. Run the Camrivox Configuration Tool for Dynamics. This can be found on the Windows Start menu under Camrivox Flexor Software and then MS Dynamics CTI.
  2. On the first page of the configuration wizard, you must enter your administrator credentials for accessing your Dynamics server, and then click Connect followed by Next:

Logging into your Dynamics account as an administrator

The next stage of the wizard allows you to choose your organisation. Often you might only have one organisation per server, so the default will be to choose the first organisation in the list. To proceed click Read Existing Configuration and then Next.

    Dynamics Configuration Tool (stage 3)

Confirming the organisation name to retrieve the existing configuration

Once the configuration has been retrieved, the Dynamics Configuration Tool will require you to save it as a backup. Should there be any difficulties in making the changes to the configuration to include Camrivox Flexor CTI functionality, the backup will allow you to restore your configuration to its original state

    Dynamics Configuration Tool (stage 3)

Saving the original configuration as a backup after retrieval

When the configuration has been read the Dynamics Configuration Tool will automatically make changes to your Dynamics server configuration to include Camrivox Flexor CTI functionality, but it allows you to review the changes before they are made.

The window below shows the configuration before changes, a summary of the changes to be applied, and the configuration after changes have been applied. It also has check-boxes that allow you to specify which changes should be made (normally you want them all checked). Parts of the configuration that are to be removed are highlighted in the 'Configuration before changes' section in red, and added content is shown in the 'Summary of proposed changes' section in green. You can use the Previous and Next buttons in each section to navigate quickly to the parts of the configuration that will be modified.

You can make manual edits to the configuration using this window. And the configuration after changes section of the window will be updated in real time. It is unlikely you would want to edit the configuration manually, but it can be useful to revert changes by pasting in a previously saved configuration file into the window to replace the existing configuration in its entirety.

When you are happy with the changes to be applied click Apply Changes.

    Dynamics Configuration Tool (stage 5)

Checking the modifications before submitting them

The next stage of the window shows the progress in applying the changes. It can take some time to complete this operation (around 1 minute). If there is a problem with some of the changes made, the server may refuse to accept the updates. If this happens, use the Back button to return to the previous screen and inspect the changes for errors. It may be that you cannot tell with the errors are, in which case you should save the contents of the before and after windows and email Camrivox Support, including those files.

To copy the content of the configuration fields, click in the text box, then press Ctrl-A to select all of the text and Ctrl-C to copy it to the clipboard. You can then paste it into a standard application like Notepad or Word and save it.

  3. Enable web UI customisations for selected security roles as desired.

  4. Login to your organisation's Dynamics installation as an administrator.
  5. In the left-hand navigation pane, go to Settings and select System Settings. Select the Customization tab, and click the ... button under Custom menus and toolbars. If Web application appears in the left-hand pane, select it and click >> to move it to the right-hand pane. Click OK. Ensure that the Prefix field defining the string to use for custom entities and attributes is set to New. Click OK.

  7. While still in the Settings page, select Security Roles. Double-click to edit the security role for any organisation role who should be able to use Dynamics CTI. Click the Customization tab. Ensure that ISV Extensions displayed under Miscellaneous Privileges shows a filled in green dot in the Create column representing Organization privileges; if not, click the symbol there until it does. Save and close the form using the buttons at the top left. Repeat for all roles who should be able to use Dynamics CTI.
